You can hear the moans from every corner of the office; “I have so much work to do and boss has us going offsite for some useless team building thing today.” The eyes roll, the sighs echo and the employees shuffle off with less than enthusiastic attitudes to whatever awaits them at the dreaded “off site.”

 Well, everyone does love pizza. And, with Regale’s flair for making an event special, it’s no wonder that pizza can be a company’s best friend! 

Help us build the Regale family. We encourage members to bring like-minded friends up to the winery to show them what we are all about. For the first half of 2012, the member who refers the most new members will receive a private wood fired pizza party next summer for themselves and 25 guests! All on us, including wine! For the second half of the year, the winning member will receive a private wintertime party at Regale with the entire winery to yourselves!!!

Below please find our 2012 schedule of private, members-only events. New for this year is the April Tax Relief Event, our May Culinary Class, Summer Luau, Valentine Celebration and Father’s Day BBQ. In addition, we will have our traditional Harvest Celebration, Oysters and Sparkling Wine, Paella Fiesta and Winter Holiday Party. For all of these parties, we will close the winery to the public for the day. Most of these events are FREE and a few have minimal charges.

Join us for complimentary wine tasting, sweet and savory appetizers, chocolate tasting, and live music. Special wine discounts available that day only! This special event is for members and their guests only (four tickets are allowed each member.) Due to the popuparity of our events, we have two parties that day to choose from; 11am to 2pm or 3pm to 6pm. Attendance is limited, so we are “selling” tickets on line. What is bocce ball exactly? Is it bowling without pins? Are the rules similar to other outdoor games, such as shuffleboard and croquet? Everyone playing it always seems to be having such a great time. But what is bocce ball?

Bocce ball is a highly entertaining game that’s played by enthusiasts of all ages. Here at Regale Winery, we have a flat, beautifully raked playing surface compose of tightly packed dirt. Our regulation court is approximately 76 feet long by 10 feet wide. Here’s how our patrons play the game while enjoying the mountainside views and our pristine wines.

What Is Bocce Ball: An Introduction

Here’s a brief overview for how to play the game the next time you visit Regale Winery:

• Divide you and your friends into two teams of one, two, or four players. Divide the four balls equally among each friend.
• From the foul line – located about 10 feet from the end of the court where players throw – one player should throw the small ball toward the opposite end. This small ball is called a “pallino.”
• This same player then throws in an underhand motion his or her “boccia,” or larger-sized ball, to get it as close to the pallino as he or she can without actually touching it.
• Now players from the other team try to get their boccia closer to the pallino than the initial toss by the opposition. If they can’t, the starting team tries to better its first effort.
• The starting team should take their second turn if the opposition gets closer to the pallino without using all their balls.
• Continue in this pattern until all eight balls have been tossed. The team with the closest balls to the pallino at the end gets one point for each one that is closer than the opposition’s balls. So if Team A has three balls closer to the pallino than Team B’s closest ball, the score is 3-0 in favor of Team A.
• What if there’s a tie and balls from opposing teams are equal distance to the pallino? Sorry, no one gets a point.
• Whoever attained the most points in that round gets to go first in the next. Keep playing until a team gets to 16 points.
